Websites - The Next Generation

Hello fellow classmates. Today I would like to discuss Websites, but not just websites. Websites are the next generation of marketing. How? Allow me to tell you.

Since the internet bubble burst, companies have found that the internet is a vital way to market their products or services to consumers. Through the rise in popularity of the internet, more websites have changed and more and more companies have hopped on the bandwagon of changing their websites.

Through drastic changes to their websites, companies can change their company sales and customer traffic. To be successful companies must be aware of the following:

-Is the website easy to use?
-Is it easy for a visitor to get lost?
-Is it user friendly?
-Does it have too much or too little information?
-How does the website suit our brand?

It is important for companies to be aware of these because if a website is difficult to use, or visitors are getting lost it may not have the desired effect that you would like. The world is changing, our society is all about the next generation- websites.

If a consumer wants to know more about a brand they expect to be able to do a fast web search and be able to locate that brand's website. By finding that website, they are going to learn more about that brand and this may lead to more sales.

In the ever expanding world of the internet a good website is vital to almost any company. It increases consumer awareness which turns into a more competitive company. In the 21st century, websites are the next generation. We have said good bye to tools such as phonebooks, and research books. We have said hello to online phonebooks and online encyclopedias. Technology continues to grow and that means websites will continue to grow.

Websites are the next generation.

  13. I couldn't count how many times I have left a website just because the layout is confusing and it was difficult to find what I was looking for. Once someone usually can't find what there looking for, and they have no reason to ever visit your site again for that matter. The reasons stated above are just a few of the key elemnts to the future of websites. Great job Ryan. Enjoyable read.

  14. I agree that the website should be easy to navigate. The more convenient it is for the consumer, the longer they will be willing to stay on the website or revisit it. When a task is confusing or difficult it is no longer enjoyable. Businesses should make their websites simple enough for their target market to enjoy visiting it.

  15. I agree with you comments regarding websites being the next generation. To add to your point I would have to say that the next generation websites need to include a mobile version of their website.

    Here is why:
Statistics show that a large percentage of the population are using their smart phone for web browsing. In the United States out of persons aged 13+ 46.7% of this age group are using their smart phones to browse the internet. This stat was from 2010, so think of how much this number would have grown since this data was collected.

If this stat from this website:

    1. I remember discussing in one class that Canadians use the internet extremely frequently. I wonder if this means that the percentage of people using their phones to browse the web in Canada is even higher.

Websites allow the visitors to search what they want related to the topics available on the website and they dont have to look for it for hours by navigating the entire website. They can easily search websites they want through search engines, which is the best part. As days pass, new websites are coming up which makes it the next generation.

  18. Great post!

Websites are the next generation. It's instantaneous and at your fingertips. It's the first tool people go to when looking for information. When the website is not easy to navigate, it's at a loss. It's such a competitive market. Websites are key.

  19. I think back in the early days of the internet it was much more necessary to have a very basic and easy to operate site, but with time they can get more deep and complex. This is because people's grasp on technology has improved greatly over time. Though the site still seems "easy" to us now, imagine us 10 years ago trying to navigate this very website. I feel like they will continue to get more complex, and leave those who have not jumped on the internet bandwagon in the dust, hopeless to ever catch up to the complexities of the web.

  20. Excellent post Ryan.. i think it is crucial that a website is fully functional... no error links or anything like that.
People will not find your website credible if some of your links don't take you anywhere but an error page. It is important you know the answers to the above questions you listed. Marketers need to know what customers like and dislike about your webpage and how they can improve it in order to have more view/hits and even leads

  21. I totally agree that Websites really are the next generation for everyone. the most important features in the websites is convenience, so Websites should be easy to navigate and that will help to attract everyone.

  22. As much as website marketing has advantages to marketers, It has disadvantages as well! Internet is still regarded as a great source of information gathering for many customers, nd when a person gets motivated to buy, he would prefer to buy in person rather than on a website. so websites can sometimes be used for collecting information, rather than buying online.

  23. There is nothing worse than getting lost on a website, or not being able to properly use it with poor functionality. Personally speaking, I despise frames. But the smoother interactive and well laid out are a pleasure to read and frequently visit. I'm curious to see what they come up with next because as you said Ryan, they are vital and the way of the future, the next generation. Great post!
